Lune and Connect Earth Partner to Drive the Adoption of Carbon Insights Across the UAE and MENA

Sep 24, 2024 | News

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 24th September 2024 — Connect Earth announces its partnership with Lune, a leading provider of financial data enrichment and analytics, with a shared goal to enable financial institutions across the UAE and MENA to drive climate action across their customer base.

Pairing Connect Earth’s powerful carbon intelligence infrastructure with Lune’s innovative transaction enrichment engine, this partnership unlocks new possibilities in the region.

Together, these companies aim to provide an unprecedented client experience, enabling both consumers and businesses to measure and reduce carbon emissions from within their bank account.

Driving Climate Action in the MENA Region

Connect Earth and Lune partnership

Connect Earth CEO, Alexander Lempka, anticipates a positive future:

“By partnering with Lune, we work with the best-in-class transaction enrichment provider in the Middle East. Combined with our carbon intelligence infrastructure, we are able to uncover more emissions from client data, drive more actionable recommendations, future forecasts, and more. Together, we will drive climate action across the MENA region.”

Those thoughts are shared by Helal Lootah, CEO at Lune:

“At Lune, we view financial data as a powerful mechanism for driving meaningful climate action. Integrating Connect Earth’s carbon intelligence into our transaction enrichment engine will empower financial institutions in the MENA region to help customers make informed, eco-conscious decisions. We are excited to explore new opportunities that further expand the role of financial data in fostering sustainability.”

The Partnership in Context: UAE’s “Year of Sustainability”

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) “Year of Sustainability” was extended into 2024 following the successful hosting of COP28 in Dubai last year:

“Now all governments and businesses need to turn these pledges into real-economy outcomes, without delay,” said UN Climate Change Executive Secretary Simon Stiell in his closing speech.

As a result, there is considerable momentum driving sustainability initiatives across the MENA region at the moment. Businesses and financial institutions in particular have a mandate to act. Ninety-three percent of people expect sustainable financial services to become the norm, and almost half expect this to be the case by next year. PwC’s Global Consumer Insights Pulse Survey shows that Middle East shoppers are increasingly influenced by sustainability issues, but one in five feel they don’t know where to start.

By providing carbon estimates for transactions as well as actionable insights to guide consumers and businesses, this partnership is especially timely in relation to such a backdrop.

What’s on the Horizon?

Connect Earth and Lune have several exciting projects in the works and are in discussions with leading financial institutions in the MENA region, as well as scoping out the expansion of Lune’s transaction enrichment engine beyond those borders.

The companies look forward to a fruitful partnership supporting a more sustainable future for all.
